Welcome back. It is time to learn another crochet stitch. This is lesson number 3 in the series. I will be showing you how to do the Half Double Crochet stitch (hdc). So, grab your hook and yarn and let’s get started.
Chain (ch) 16 + 2
Step 1) Yarn over (yo) and insert the hook in the third chain from the hook.
Step 2) Draw yarn through that chain. You now have 3 loops on your hook.
Step 3) Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
Step 4) Repeat steps 1 through 3 until you get to the end of the chain. When your done you will have a something that looks like this.
Now chain 2 and turn your work.
Step 5) Insert you hook in the second chain from the hook and repeat steps 1 through 3 until you get to the end of the row.
That’s it. You now know how to make a Half Double crochet (hdc). If you want to continue on to make a sample swatch, remember to chain 2 at the end of each row and start the next row in the third chain from the hook. Here’s what several rows look like.
That’s the Half double crochet. Let me know if I can answer any questions or can help I any way. In my next post I will show you how to do the Double Crochet (dc).
See you next time,
